About Us
Meet the Staff |
Students
may sign up, or be placed, in any one of 4 different types of
groups.
| Youth | Teen | Director's
Table | Focused
Special Needs |
Table Composition
We are an inclusion program, with a ratio of no more than two
learning challenged students per group of six students. All of our students
benefit from this group structure, taking the teamwork, tolerance and
communication skills they learn with us into their adult lives. We may
be able to provide a focused group for up to four learning challenged
students upon request. If your student has special learning or developmental
needs, please contact Becky about your enrollment.
As
always, the number of groups available, and their composition (maturity,
experience, leaning needs), depends upon the enrollment and
staffing for any given program. We strive to be able to accomodate
all types of groups on all days. However, if enrollment is low
or skewed, we may not be able to provide a specific group type
for your student.
Youth Tables
Students ages 10 - 12. These tables
include beginning and moderately experienced players. These are stories
appropriate for the age range and experience level of the players.
Teen Tables
Students ages 13 - 18, no experience necessary.
The stories tend to be more complicated and better suited to
the changing needs of our teens.
The Director's Table
The Director’s table is limited to just
six spaces and is available when the director, Becky, is on site
at the Roleplay Workshop, and there are enough qualified students
enrolled. The Director’s
Table is specifically geared for teens (13 and older)
who are ready for advanced play. The games will be difficult and
players will be expected to have an excellent handle on system
mechanics. They are assumed to be ready to play with very little
or no assistance.
Keep in mind that Abantey
has an extremely complicated game system and it usually takes two or
more years, to learn. Remember, if your student is not ready this year,
the Teen tables are a great place to have fun and learn the skills
necessary to be eligible for the Director's Table.
Again, the requirements
for the Director’s Table are:
-13 years and up
-Excellent working knowledge of system mechanics. Can play without help.
-By application only. Application to be reviewed by the program
staff.
Focused
Special Needs top
In a focused group, all of the students
have one or more learning challenge. The group size is smaller, with a
maximum enrollment of four students. Additionally, the cost of
enrolling in a focused group is higher. Parents of students enrolled in
a focused group receive monthly updates on the student's progress.
