What is a Role Playing Game?

A role playing game can best be described as interactive story telling. Players create characters within the structure of the world and work together to solve "missions" created by the "game master."

What is Abantey?

The Roleplay Workshop uses a role playing game called Abantey as a teaching tool with students ages 10 and up. While playing the game, students practice basic math and statistics, learn ecology, anthropology, organizational skills, and how to work with each other.

Special Needs

The Roleplay Workshop is unique in that it is ideal for students with special needs. We have extensive experience with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders, and the nature of the learning experience at The Roleplay Workshop perfectly accommodates the needs of these students. In addition to teaching conventional skills such as reading and math, The Roleplay Workshop also develops social and interactive skills, as well as providing a unique peer counseling forum.

Tutoring

The Roleplay Workshop also provides one on one tutoring in almost any subject. Our staff is educated in a wide range of subjects and can provide individual attention for those students who want to improve their learning skills.

Drop In

The Roleplay Workshop invites you to come by and observe a session of Abantey to find out if it is right for you. Please contact us and we will make sure there is space for you to drop in. Unfortunately, due to enrollment and scheduling needs, we cannot accept drop in enrollment in all circumstances.
