Private Parties

The Roleplay Workshop also does private parties. We can bring a game to your party of four to six teenagers. The game will provide five to six hours of activity and we provide all the materials needed for the game.

See the rates for private party programs.

Leadership Training

For the advanced students in the program we offer a "Game Master in Training" program. This program gives older students the opportunity to take on more responsibility with the program and learn how to work with the younger students. Ultimately they can work with their own group as a paid member of The Roleplay Workshop staff. This program is open to students who have been with the program for more than two years and are considered by the staff to be ready for this level of responsibility.

Parent Involvement

The Roleplay Workshop offers free programs for parents only. These programs are designed to introduce parents to the program and the game so that they can have a better understanding of what we do here. Check the schedule to find out when the next upcoming dates are. Sign up early as spaces are limited.

Learning Challenged Programs

Roleplay Workshop has had great success in helping students with learning challenges feel successful not only at Abantey, but in helping them blossom in their outside lives as well. We are an inclusion program, with a ratio of no more than two learning challenged students per group of six student and our program is set up to help learning challenged students succeed. All of our students benefit from this group structure, bringing the teamwork, tolerance, and communication skills they learn with us into their adult lives. We may be able to provide a focused group for up to four learning challenged students upon request. If your student has special learning or developmental needs, please contact us about your enrollment and we will create a plan for your child.

Integrated Groups

In an integrated group, we maintain a ratio of one high need student per three low or no need students. Thus, with our group size of six, we have a maximum of two high need students per table. In this group structure, the high need students are strongly influenced by the modeling of the rest of the group.

The student with attention deficit disorder learns the value of developing skills for keeping track of things and maintaining focus. The student with social skills difficulties sees social skills in use and and has the opportunity to develop her own skills.

In order for the integrated group to work, it is important that we have no more than one high need student for every three students. We also group our students by age, 10 - 12 and 13+, and level of experience. We may have to wait list high need students based on group composition, size and staffing, until such time as the group size increases, we add another group, or a space opens up in a given group.

Integrated groups work well with older students (13+) who have worked on their special need outside of the Roleplay Workshop, with a Therapist, Special Education Department at their school, or any other program designed to address their need. The students do not need to have prior experience with the Roleplay Workshop programs.
