Hello
All!
(If you would like to be removed from this email list
- please let me know!)
Wow! The school year is off to a great start. Our enrollment levels for
October are at their highest ever! We have some great groups started and
I'm looking forward to having a great year.
***********
Program Announcements
Some business things
first. Several parents have asked for clarification of the 3 levels of
enrollment.
Yearly
If you are certain that your student will be attending all year, this
is definitely the way to go. You are billed $80 per month ($60 for teen
groups) from October through May. Some months will have 5 sessions, some
will have less, you'll also get the few days in September and June for
'free'. There are no longer credits for missed sessions. If you need to
miss a month or more, you'll need to either continue to pay to hold your
space OR pay a $20 cancellation fee. If you choose to cancel and then
re-enroll, there is no guarantee that your space will still be available.
Monthly
If your enrollment will be changing, this level may work for you. You
are billed $100 for each month ($80 for teen groups) you are enrolled.
You must let me know before the beginning of each month that you would
like to continue your enrollment. If you do not, I'll have to assume that
you are not attending and I'll open up the space. If you know you'll be
gone for example, just for December, please let me know so that I can
hold a space for you in January. There is no guarantee that your space
will remain open unless you advise me of your return date.
Daily
This works best for people who know that their schedule will be changing
constantly, or who would just like to come for a day to check out the
program. You must sign at least 1 week in advance of the day in which
you'd like to enroll! The daily cost is $30 per after school day ($25
for teen groups) or $60 per Saturday ($50 for teen groups). There are
some problems with type of enrollment. Each day of the program is one
piece of a continuing story. For example, the Tuesday group works on a
different story from the Thursday group. If your student attends on different
days, it would be like reading a chapter here and a chapter there of several
books at once. If they attend on the same day, it would be like skipping
random chapters of a book. The other players could fill them in in this
case.

Parent Questions/Discussion
I would like to use this newsletter to answer questions and facilitate
parent discussions. If you have a question or discussion topic, please
send me an email. You may choose to submit your question/topic anonymously.
I'll put the question/topic into the next newsletter, along with my answer
or any other responses. If you would like your email address included
with your question/topic (for private responses from other parents), please
let me know.

Upcoming Holiday Sessions
With enrollment booming, please be sure to send in holiday enrollment
request ASAP. You can either leave me a phone message, send me an email,
or fill and enrollment for and snail mail it in.
October 13 (Monday): 1 space left
November 11 (Tuesday): 11 spaces left. We need at least 3 more students
to have this session.
November 28 (Friday): We can enroll up to 18 students. We currently have
1 enrollment. We need 3 more students to have this session.
Winter Break (Monday December 22 through Friday January 2nd): We still
have plenty of space available for all sessions.

Session Summaries
I thought you all might be interested in a synopsis of each group's activities.
There is not much for this newsletter (since we just started), so this
will just be a short introduction.
Mondays
We have no current enrollment for Mondays. If you would like to start
a Monday group (4 students minimum), please let me know. We can enroll
up to 12 students on Mondays.
Tuesdays
We have 2 groups of 4 on Tuesdays, a teen group run by Becky, and a younger
kids group (9-10) run by Greg. We have space for 2 more players at each
table, and could begin a 3rd table if we get enough enrollment (12 total).
Greg:
Greg's young group is already full of the giggles! Their adventure seems
to be off to a great start. Here's Greg's summary: On a stormy night near
the border of the land of Plajet, a party of adventurers wake to find
a mysterious box upon the bed-stand. Inside they find a Magic 8-Ball,
and a cryptic note: "Bring the 8-Ball to Agent Fredrick in Tabur
for further instructions". After searching, they find the enigmatic
Agent Fredrick, a member of a secret organization known only as the GM-05.
He tells the party, "You are all now a part of Operation Gum-Ball,
and the next step is to take 8-Ball to The Temple of the Eye, deep in
the land of Os'Plajet. There... all will be revealed. But be wary, for
enemies are on the prowl, and the Magic 8-Ball has mysterious powers,
no one fully understands." On the road, they are attacked by a band
of ninja-assassins wearing Bright-Yellow suits. Could these be the enemies
of the GM-05, supposedly called the Kumquat Guild? What do they want with
the Magic 8-Ball? What is operation Gum-ball? Hopefully our party will
find out all the answers before it is too late...
Becky:
I have a great group of teenagers on Tuesday. We've gotten off to a rapid
start. The characters have been hired by a powerful and possibly shady
Mage to find a woman by the name of Satoko Mori and bring her back to
him. They are being paid extremely well for this simple task! Satoko boarded
a ship headed south that stops at 5 different ports. They, along with
one of the Mage's henchmen, have a tough task ahead of them trying to
find Satoko. Then! they'll need to find a way to bring her back - unharmed!
Wednesdays
We have no current enrollment for Wednesday. If you would like to start
a Wednesday group (4 students minimum), please let me know. We can enroll
up to 12 students on Wednesdays.
Thursdays
Our Thursday group is mostly girls (4 out of 6), ages 10 to 12. This table
is full. However, if we get 2 more players we can split into 2 tables.
We can enroll up to 12 more students.
Becky:
We've spent the last 2 weeks creating some great characters! The group
decided they'd like to be a special set of adventurers. We ended up making
characters whose parents were retired adventurers who run a small inn.
The characters have a unique set of skills and have grown up together.
This week will see them thrown into turmoil as the characters' parents
face a political crisis! The characters will have to leave home and begin
a journey to clear their parents' names! (Please don't tell your students
about the mission! They don't know what it is yet!)
Fridays
Friday is our full day! We have no more space available.
Becky:
I'm running a group of teenagers. We've been working to create some very
special characters - they'll be a real challenge for our teen players!
The group will be embarking on a secret mission this week to retrieve
some long lost items from an extremely hostile territory! (Please don't
tell your students about the mission! They don't know what it is yet!)
Greg:
A thief has struck the wealthy Border Town citizen of Rupert Randolph.
Of all the priceless objects within his estate, only one object was taken,
Rupert's most prized possession: The Mesmeric Feeshan. A small statuette
of a Marked Feeshan, figure caught in the motion of dance. Rupert has
hired the Adventurers to track down this thief. Using some contacts with
the local underground Black Market, they have contacted a Marked Feeshan
Art Dealer in town, who just may know where the Mesmeric Feeshan is. They
met with the dealer, a seedy fellow by the name of Jacky Johnson, and
tricked him at his own game of lies and half-truths, to find out that
HE was the thief! But, they are too late, he's already sold the Statuette
to the highest bidder! The adventurers threaten to call the Guard's Guild,
but Jacky holds an ace up his sleeve. Before the party can react, Jacky
has escaped, and with him, the knowledge of the location of the Mesmeric
Feeshan. Rupert Randolph certainly won't be happy that the thief got away.
Where did Jacky run to? Who did he sell the Statuette to? What will the
Adventurers do now?
Cody and Marcus:
Their group has received employment to investigate a Wa'la guy whom they
knew almost nothing about. The characters need to find out his activities,
location, and recent history, if they can. The man was last seen walking
towards the docks. The party has determined that he is registered to leave
on a boat in two days and received a tip that he was seen heading towards
the slums. The investigation continues this month.
Saturday (1st & 3rd)
Becky:
I've got a table full of guys who have been playing together for 3 years!
They've begged for the last 2 years to do a follow up mission to heart
rending story of a daughter's (Tanjun Aska) discovery of her mother's
betrayal of their large extended family. The players have developed their
skills to the point where they're now ready to face the challenge of helping
Tanjun Aska see justice and resolution for the horrible deeds of her mother.
Greg:
This first week Dominic and Eric substituted for Greg. The group worked
on characters and are ready to begin their adventure with Greg on October
18th.
