Session Summaries
Mondays
We have space for enrollment of up to 5 more students.
Becky
Monday's group started off with a bang - several characters were part
of the evacuation of Tabur (see the October Newsletter). the Characters
ended up in Kiki, normally a quiet little town at the edge of the jungle.
Now, however, the town is swollen with refugees. There are shortages in
housing, food and the basic necessities and tempers are flaring. To make
matters worse, the denizens of the 'Twilight' (a section of the town ruined
during the Wave, and inhabited by outcasts and criminals), have come out
to prey on the refugees! The party helped a Sakeet woman and her 3 children
find a place to stay after some of these 'Twilighters' kicked her and
her children out of their rented room. Now the party is trying to find
out why the Twilighters are out of their area.
Greg
A friend of the group, a woman named Odessa who is a freelance detective,
brings them together to investigate reports of monsters attacking a small
mining town named Geyser, a week's journey outside of Kiki. As the party
journeys there, they uncover some interesting information. It turns out
that the town of Geyser had hired a mercenary group named the Crimson
Star to defend the town, but now this same group has put the whole town
on lock down for security purposes. What will their investigation turn
up? What is attacking the small town of Geyser, and what is the involvement
of the Crimson Star?
Tuesdays
We have space for enrollment of up to 2 more students.
Greg
Greg's Tuesday group is all comprised of Marked Feeshan! Marked Feeshan
are a cat like people whose culture requires them to experience new things.
Their group has been hired by a rogue man named Dr. Hubert, who is an
archeologist curious to explore some ancient Feeshan temples high in the
jungle-covered mountains south of Repast. He needs some Feeshan to come
along, 'Just so Os'Feeshan doesn't get upset that we'll be exploring these
ruins.' However, the adventurers already suspect something more sinister
is afoot. The riverboat that is taking them for half the journey doesn't
have them listed for passengers on the return trip! Dr. Hubert assures
them this was a mistake, but is he truly saying everything?
Dominic
Since it's the beginning of the year, Dominic's table has been working
on creating our characters and getting familiar with the system and with
each other. After that they jumped right in. The adventurers are hired
by an entrepreneurial Plajet looking to get rich quick. He'd 'acquired'
a large number of magic items from people evacuating Tabur who needed
cash. So, after being hired to guard his caravan, our intrepid group set
out on foot across the land of Plajet in search of a good deal. When our
group had almost reached its goal, crowning what they thought would be
the last peak of the mountain range they had to cross; they found themselves
on a huge expansive and sunny savannah amidst the cold, snowy rocks. What
was going on? And why were they met by two Marked Sakeets claiming that
they had entered the land of Os'Sakeet. Curious…

Piedmont Middle School Special Education Class
Once again, Becky is running sessions for groups of special needs students
at Piedmont Middle School. Our groups began in late-October and we are
still working to create our characters. You'll hear all about their exciting
adventures beginning in the December Newsletter.
Wednesdays
We have no current enrollment for Wednesday. If you would like to start
a Wednesday group (4 students minimum), please let me know. We can enroll
up to 6 students on Wednesdays.
Thursdays
We have space for enrollment of up to 2 more students.
Greg
Greg's Tuesday group from last year has joined together again, but this
year on Thursdays. In a group comprised of mostly Marked Plajets, you
can be sure it'll be an adventure filled with hilarity. Or will it? They
definitely have been hired by a bizarre man. Redd Herring is his name,
intrepid Righteous Hero, a swashbuckler who takes every opportunity to
pop out his guitar and play a few cords about recent events. It seems
Redd is on the hunt for an evil wizard by the name of Ludvig, who enslaves
people with his mind to make them to his bidding. He must be captured.
Only a day behind
Ludvig, the adventurer's climb aboard a boat heading for Townsend, hoping
to find the evil wizard there. But, tragedy strikes! Monsters attack the
boat and it sinks. Luckily they climb aboard some life rafts, and make
it out alive, but not are floating aimlessly in the ocean. Will they make
to shore in time to stop Ludvig's nefarious deeds?

Friday
We have one (1) space available on Fridays.
Becky
Becky's Friday group was given the opportunity to create some fairly powerful
characters, most of who are special operatives if the ARA. The ARA (Abantey
Relief Agency) is an organization which was created many years ago after
the global disaster of 'The Wave'. The ARA works similarly to UN Relief
Agencies, providing support and assistance to individuals and countries
after disasters. They also have the goal of working to ease the tensions
between the Creators of the Marked Peoples and the Rogues.
Our group of adventurers has been brought together for a dangerous mission:
sneak through the quarantine zone around around Tabur to a compound just
south of the city. The compound contains the lab of a powerful ARA Research
Mage - Dr. Leneous Fog. During the chaos of the evacuation of Tabur -
no one checked on Dr. Fog and her associates! Our mission, get to the
compound, find the good Dr. and her associates, and get them and any of
their research materials that are critical, out of the quarantine zone.
Unfortunately, announcements have stated that anyone caught attempting
to enter or leave the quarantine zone will be killed…
Greg
Time to evacuate Tabur!
Greg's Friday group was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time -
being in Tabur as all the evacuations started to happen. They have to
get out of there, and fast. As they are attempting to leave, a strange
Rogue Baluud man named Vicente meets them, and says he desperately needs
their help. Something attacked him, and injured him greatly. Now he can
only barely move, and needs their help to get to Kiki. The hitch is that
he doesn't want to be seen or captured by any authorities. Quite a strange
demand. Is he trustworthy, and why does he want to not be caught so badly?
Will they make it out of Tabur alive? Only time will tell.
Rayna and
Steve
After completing characters in September, our group was hired to guard
a caravan. A couple days into the trip, a very important item was stolen!
The group quickly figured out that one of the other adventurers hired
to guard the wagon was the thief, and followed her trail out into the
savannah with the caravan proprietor. After being ambushed by hyenas and
spotted lions, they found the thief hiding in a cave. Even though she
attacked them, they very graciously not only inflicted minimal damage
but also healed her afterwards. The caravan proprietor requested that
the group bring her to the nearest town to be turned over to the guards,
but lacked the funds to hire the group to guard the caravan for the rest
of its route. The group is now stranded in a Plajet town with no mission.
What will happen next?
Saturday
(1st & 3rd)
We have space for enrollment of up to 5 more students.
Becky
Our group of adventurers (looking for work in the wake of the evacuation
of Tabur), answered an ad looking for 'bold and courageous' adventurers.
Their employer, a Plajet/Wa'la woman named Nema, needs help finding her
brother Stephano, who has been missing for over 6 months. He is an treasure
hunter who left Far Town chasing rumors of treasure on the islands south
and west of that remote and isolated town. Nema has contracted the adventurers
and a ship to head into the uncharted isles to find Stephano. All began
innocently enough, but just before they reached Far Town, the ship's captain
spotted what looked like a giant squid off the starboard bow! As two of
the party members went to the bow to get a better look, scores of strange
flying fish began to leap out of the water heading toward the boat. Suddenly,
the squid thing surfaced and attacked one of the crew members, grabbing
her and pulling her into its horrible maw. It has become a battle for
their lives as the giant squid thing slashes at the party members and
the 'flying fish' race around the boat, flying through (!) people and
draining them of their life's energy! How will this horrible encounter
turn out? Tune in next month, and find out.

The adventurers found themselves in enjoying a quiet afternoon in a cafe
near the heart of Tabur. Around them the mood was unsettled. A lot of
shops were closed, apartments and houses empty. Many had heeded the warnings
of the Guilds and abandoned Tabur. It was the 15th day of Observance.
A day of tragedy. The adventurers were sitting in a cafe near the center
of town when suddenly there was an earthquake and the Mages' Guild exploded,
raining debris all around. Giant tentacles, hundreds of feet tall, shot
up from the ruins. The adventurers, caught up in the wave of fleeing townspeople,
found themselves outside the walls of Tabur.
They joined the long
line of refugees streaming out of the once great city. As they passed
the cordon, twenty miles outside of Tabur, they were approached by Nahid
DeCastro - a Master Guard Mage. He enlisted the aid of the characters
in searching for a kidnapper. With few clues, save for a rather vague
description of the kidnapper, the characters started their search. After
stopping at the first inn town, they were accosted by two Plajets, a Feeshan
and a Sakeet traveling with the refugees on the road to Palgo. They demanded
food and money from the characters while glaring at them in a threatening
manner. One of the adventurers gave them some of his rations and they
went away. The next day,They discovered a possible witness to the kidnappings:
a Feeshan tailor whose brother was seen talking to someone who matched
the rough description of their suspect. They talked to him and discovered
that, not only had his brother disappeared after meeting the suspect,
but his wagon as well! The mystery continues to deepen on the road to
Palgo.
Saturday
2nd & 4th
There are no spaces available for the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. We have one
regular group and two groups of assistants.
Assistants
(ages 13 and up) play in advanced games that stress the more difficult
aspects of the Abantey game. They are polishing their skills in preparation
for assisting with the summer program. The assistant groups are being
run by Becky and Greg, with the help of Dominic (our other Game Master).
Unfortunately, as the assistant groups are on 'secret missions', we will
not be summarizing them here - just in case a student gets hold of this
newsletter!

The party arrived at the tropical island city of Sumilon. They were just
having fun relaxing along the palm lined beaches when they received a
mysterious letter. It asked them to attend the opening night bash of a
the new Tsunami Resort Hotel up the coast of the island. The adventurers
arrived to find a huge party in progress, with two bands playing, great
food, and a spectacular fireworks finale. After the festivities had drawn
to a close they were summoned to meet with the owner of the Tsunami Resort.
He needed a special security team as the hotel business had turned out
to be a much more risky venture than he had originally thought and he
was very worried about the security of his establishment. The party accepted
his offer of employment and quickly set themselves in a headquarters on
the hotel grounds.
A grand opening banquet
was scheduled for the next day and the food and supplies were supposed
to arrive by 1 PM. They didn't. Nor did they arrive by 1:30 PM. The the
party investigated, first securing a wagon to haul the supplies if for
some reason the one carrying them had been damaged. They set out on the
road ot town. however an enormous tiger (with a spiked collar) ambushed
their caravan, took out their horses and then escaped into the jungle.
The party proceeded on foot and found the wagon bearing the supplies and
a very distressed teamster desperately trying to fix a broken axle without
the proper tools. Luckily the party had thought to bring along spare wagon
parts. While inspecting the broken axle they discovered that it had sabotaged!
